In comparison with other branches of industry, the production capacities demanded in the animal feed industry are very high. At the same time, animal feed is defined by its performance-enhancing effects resulting from the different bulk densities, particle sizes, textures, melting points and solubility.

These parameters are standardised and optimised by means of process-technological steps such as grinding and extrusion.

SOLUTIONS FOR

  • Animal feed ingredients
  • Fish food & fish meal

To ensure the balanced and performance-based nutrition of livestock, fodder compositions are constantly being refined and improved. To this end, animal feed ingredients such as soya, peas, corn, minerals, vitamins, milk minerals and their constituents must be easy to process.

High-tech systems comprising granulators, fine impact and classifier mills as well as high-performance classifiers from Hosokawa Alpine make it possible to use these ingredients in a great variety of combinations. In addition, the process of protein shifting developed especially for pulses and grain makes it possible to enrich vegetable protein from pulses by means of grinding and classification

Final applications

  • Breeding
  • Fattening
  • Performance optimisation

FISH FOOD & FISH MEAL

Ultrafine grinding and extrusion to retain the ingredients and texture for the desired feeding effect.

GRINDING

In its composition and manufacture, fish food is one of the most challenging feedstuffs.

As a major component, fish meal is produced in high throughputs by the ultrafine grinding of dried seafood such as shrimps, tuna, prawns, mussels and by-products of the fishing industry. Besides the performance of the machine, the particle size also plays a major role – for example, for the rate of descent and suspension of the later feedstuff

EXTRUSION

To improve the feed uptake and digestibility, fish meal and pre-mixtures need to be produced separately dependent on the type of fish by means of extrusion according to the size, density, shape, colour and solubility in water. At the same time, valuable feed ingredients must not be wasted during this demanding process step.

    • Individual fineness values
    • Sharp top cuts
    • Gentle processing thanks to low-pressure extrusion
    • High throughputs and low-dust production make efficient use of the raw materials

As an option, ultrafine grinding and extrusion can be installed in series in one single system as a process-technological solution for the production of fish food.
